SUMMARY:Project Psyche Genome Analysis Meeting 2026
DESCRIPTION:Our first in-person meeting to coordinate genome analyses within Project Psyche will be held at the University of Liverpool\, UK from 21st-24th April. This will be an intensive 4-day meeting to bring together members interested in analysing the wealth of lepidopteran genomic data now available. The aim of this meeting is to coordinate different working groups involved in lepidopteran genome analysis and advance the progress already made in the past few months. Following the publication of the Project Psyche whitepaper (www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0169534725002927)\, we now want to work together to analyse the first 1\,200 lepidopteran genomes produced by Project Psyche and other genome projects. Everyone that would like to contribute to the collaborative analysis of these genomes is encouraged to attend. Over the 4 days\, the schedule will consist of updates on the data available to all working groups\, presentations from each working group on progress to date\, and workshop sessions to bring together ideas and carry out analyses.Funding for attendance is provided for members of working group 3 through the Lep10K COST action. Places have already been allocated. If you are interested in attending\, or contributing to the collaborative effort of genome analysis\, please contact the projectpsyche@sanger.ac.uk for more information.

SUMMARY:Population Genomic Analyses with Hundreds of Samples (LepEU)
DESCRIPTION:LepEU Workshop 2026DescriptionThe LepEU Workshop 2026 is a joint training and hackathon event focused on the analysis of Lepidoptera genomic data (butterflies and moths). The program is designed to support participants with different levels of experience: beginners will have the opportunity to learn how to run and interpret standard bioinformatics pipelines\, while more experienced participants will evaluate alternative approaches and quantify how analytical choices influence results. The workshop is informed by recent benchmarking and reproducibility initiatives in genomics and bioinformatics\, which show that different analytical decisions can lead to different outcomes even when using the same data. Participants will work in independent groups on shared datasets\, enabling structured comparison of pipelines and contributing to the development of reproducible best-practice recommendations for Lepidoptera genomics.Registration: open until 15 March 2026https://forms.gle/ZqG58pc2yyCKV1sj6

SUMMARY:Second 10kLepGenomes Field Conference
DESCRIPTION:The applications have been open for the second field workshop of Working Group 2 “Specimen collection for genomic work”. The field workshop will take place in Vlahi\, Pirin Mts.\, Bulgaria\, on 15th-19th June 2026.The aim of the workshop is to facilitate a meeting for knowledge transfer between people of different expertise: specialists in Lepidoptera determination and taxonomy\, enthusiasts\, laboratory technicians\, bioinformaticians and students. Together\, we will collect Lepidoptera during the day and night for Psyche and LepEU projects\, and get training in sample processing while enjoying the beauty of the wild Pirin Mountains. You can learn more about the first field workshop\, which took place in Tyrol in summer 2025\, hereIn Tyrol we were accompanied by journalists from IEEE Spectrum magazine\, and you can read about the workshop in two articles: https://spectrum.ieee.org/whole-genome-sequencing https://spectrum.ieee.org/lepidoptera-genome-sequencingWe are able to fund 38 participants through the 10kLepGenomes COST CA23122. You need to be part of WG2 to be eligible for funding. Please apply by filling in this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScOq6Meo9-b7ihQiO9f9F16xM0lXK32FtlTtDeXVswMteoNwA/viewform?usp=headerThe deadline to apply is Sunday\, 8th March 2026.
