Jose Vicente Pérez Santa-Rita from the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, Universitat de València,Spain, visited Marko Mutanen’s lab at the Ecology and Genetics Research Unit, University of Oulu, Finland from April 1st ot May 1st 2026. They worked on the project “Building a Phylogenomic Framework for Olethreutini (Tortricidae) through Genomic and Museomic Data”. The goal was to design an optimal strategy for advancing Olethreutini phylogenomics, integrating ethanol-preserved and dry museum specimens.During his stay, Jose focused on training in cutting-edge molecular and bioinformatics methods to study species of Olethreutini (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae). They also visited Hailuoto Island (Oulu, Finland) to collect larvae of Argyroploce roseomaculana and A. externa for Project Psyche. Their collaboration was a great success and laid the groundwork for future joint research!
