Project Psyche Genome Curation Workshop 2026
We’re delighted to announce that applications are open for the second edition of the Project Psyche Genome Curation Course at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. The two-week workshop will be held from 16th-27th February 2026.
The aim of this workshop is to learn how to manually curate Lepidoptera genomes and directly apply that knowledge to curate 50 genomes together during the workshop with the potential to continue on other genomes after the workshop. Genome curation is the last step after assembly and essential to generating chromosome-level assemblies. Participants require some familiarity with the command-line. The workshop will be led by the curation team at the Sanger who are leading the manual genome curation and developing the methods not just for Psyche but also the wider Earth Biogenome Project.
We are able to fund up to 15 participants through the Lep10K COST action. To be reimbursed, you need to have signed up to the working group 3 of the COST Action (https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA23122/) first. If you have not done that yet, make sure to do this early enough so that the management committee can approve your application.
To get a taste of how genome curation works, you can check out these resources including Youtube videos linked there or the latest BGA24 session on manual curation here. A summary of this years workshop can be found here.
