Working Group 4
WG4 focuses on harnessing the power of population genomics to understand genetic diversity, local adaptation, and population history in Lepidoptera across Europe. Building on reference genomes from initiatives like ERGA, DToL, and Psyche, WG4 coordinates population-level sampling, data generation, and analysis involving dozens to hundreds of individuals per species. This effort complements and integrates with other Working Groups by aligning sampling efforts, leveraging reference genomes, addressing stakeholder concerns, and supporting applied research. WG4 will collaborate closely with the LepEU consortium and uphold FAIR data principles, while actively supporting early-career researchers through specialized symposia and joint initiatives.
WG4 Objectives
- Identify the questions and aims from stakeholders that population scale data can address
- Develop best practice, FAIR methods for field collection and storage, data generation, data sharing and analyses
- Identify species that can be effectively used by a network of stakeholders across Europe for dense, meaningful population sampling
WG4 Activities
The Population Genomics workshop of Working Group 4 of 10kLepGenomes COST action (CA23122) will take place in Montpellier, France, from Monday 12th to Friday 16th May 2025. https://lepeu2025.sciencesconf.org/
